When Dick Crum taught this dance, he did each of the steps two times, and in the order given above. He emphasized, however, that this is a leader called dance and that he used this pattern only for instructional purposes. Naturally this pattern became pretty much set in stone, at least on the East coast. (When we did the dance in San Francisco, there was a different set of steps which I have, unfortunately, forgotten). The above does have the advantage of fitting perfectly with the standard Duquesne Tamburitzans recording. If you use this pattern and this recording, start after the drum beats, go through the dance twice and on the final QQ of the repeat of the reel step, bend forward, lift the R leg forward with no knee bend (Q) and slap the R foot down (Q).
